Microsoft Not in for the Short Terms

Microsoft is fully aware that it will not be easy to take over the iPod according to reports from ZDNet.

They hope to launch the Zune Portable Media Player in the US this year and the UK next, but it will take many years to fully challenge the dominance of the iPod according to Robbie Back - President of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft:

"We think of this in the hundreds of millions of dollars of investment" over several years ... It is something that is going to take time. This is not a six-month initiative."
