UK Launch Confusion

Don't you just hate the 'net for missinformation? Sites like engadget "reported" that the Zune MP3 Player won't be avaliable in Europe this year!

They simply miss-read Bulmer's actual comments which were:

Our primary goal was to get into market, offer some innovation and do some learning. The US is always an easy place to practice, because it is our home market. Over time, we will have various versions of Zune. And, it is obvious that we need to have new services, not just an Internet music store. So far, we have lost money in this business because of our investments. That is why we decided not to enter new markets so far. It will only pay off after we have reached some of the goals outlined. When this will be the case, I cannot tell you today.

Microsoft are basically testing the product on the US market. Seeing what people like, what they don't like. Getting feedback from retailers and consumers alike and then when they've ironed out the problems they'll be launching region by region. What's wrong with that? It's the correct way!

So all you Grumble-Monkey's should start to report actual news and not try and be the first kid on the digg.com block!
