iPod V Zune Sales Chart

Google has launched a tool that shoes the sales volume for products for retailers that use Google Checkout.

From the data we can see that sales volumes for both iPods and Zune's since mid 2006.

You can see some nice peaks in September 06 and Christmas time 06 for the iPod and they really did blast the old Zune out of the water.

There were some nice summer sales for the iPod during 07 but the gap definitely closed during the later part of 07 and just after Christmas 07 it looked like the sales were pretty even - perhaps this was due to heavy Zune 2 discounting?

What are your thoughts on this sales data and does it match what the "industry analysts" have been saying?
